1. Next week Ringling Brothers will be in town with their show Zing Zang Zoom (Aug 18 - 22). Last year they allowed cameras, so I'm hoping I can take pictures again this year.
2. The Zach Scott theater has a new show called "Metamorphoses". I haven't seen it yet but I heard there are aerial silks used during the show (and Blue Lapis Light is listed in the under the Artistic Staff). http://www.zachtheatre.org/show/metamorphoses. It sounds like a really interesting show.
3. Blue Lapis Light is performing a site specific aerial dance at The Long Center September 27 - October 3. Tickets are available through The Long Center. More information is available at www.bluelapislight.org.

A few events to mention....
1. I just found out that Blue Lapis Light will be performing an aerial dance at the Hyatt Regency this weekend, as part of the Bat Fest on June 6 (unfortunately, this is the same day as Star Wars in Concert).
2. Also, Ringling Brothers tickets are now on sale for their show Zing Zang Zoom.
3. Trapeze Austin is offering summer camps for kids and circus workshops for adults: http://www.trapezeaustin.com/pricing_aerials.html. They were recently featured on a segment on News 8 Austin: http://news8austin.com//Default.aspx?ArID=271496
That's all for now!

Dizzy Feet Have Got No Rhythm
Meaning... there are a few events coming up but I'm not sure I'm well enough to get to them.
1. Level 10 JO Nationals are in Dallas this weekend. Gymnasts from all over the country will be there competing. More information at http://www.metroplexgymnastics.com/jo/
2. There's a fundraiser for Blue Lapis Light this weekend (May 8) at Spring Condominiums in Downtown Austin. It sounds like fun (if I was feeling better). For anyone interested in going there's more information at http://www.bluelapislight.org/
3. Ringling Brothers tickets are now available for pre-sale. Ringling Brothers Circus is coming back to the Frank Erwin Center in August. Tickets are available for pre-sale and will be available for public sale on May 22, 2010.

Austin Trapeze Circus Performance Workshop
This sounds like so much fun (wish I was feeling better).... Austin Trapeze is doing a 6 week performance workshop ending with a show on May 29th. The workshop meets twice a week starting on April 22, 2010. Even though I can't attend the workshop, I'm very excited to see circus events like this happening in Austin. Yay! I definitely plan on attending the show and taking pictures (if allowed). Here's a link for those that want more information: www.trapezeaustin.com/workshop
I'm still editing photos from NAIGC Nationals last weekend. I'll put some on this blog soon. In the meantime, I am putting a few up on my flickr account: www.flickr.com/flipimages. NAIGC Nationals was a fun, high-energy level meet. I was surprised at the number of competitors there, I guess I didn't realize there were so many college clubs now. It's great to see so much participation and great skills in college club gymnastics. It's improved so much from when I was in college, a long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) :-)

Why does everything happen in the same weekend?
Sometimes I scour the paper looking for photo opportunities and/or things to do but in this case there are too many at once! Here's what's happening this weekend:
1. NAIGC Nationals at Texas State University in San Marcos April 8-10.
2. McCallum Fine Arts Academy is doing their spring performance on April 9-10. The aerial dance is called "Around the Bend" and was created with the help of Blue Lapis Light. More information is available at www.BlueLapisLight.org
3. Cedar Park is having a Heritage Festival on Saturday April 10th. According to the schedule in the Chronicle, two gymnastics schools are doing perfomances: Capital Gymnastics and Zero Gravity Gymnastics and Cheer.
It's going to be tough to choose!

NAIGC Nationals
The National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) is holding their 2010 National Championships at Texas State University in San Marcos. Yay! The competition runs from Thursday April 8 through Saturday April 10. The schedule is posted on their website and there's quite a few more teams than I was expecting. Hopefully they allow photography because I'm really in the mood to kick back, watch gymnastics and practice taking pictures.
Here's a link to the website and the schedule: http://www.naigc.net/nationals.php

Aerial Arts Classes at Trapeze Austin
I was just browsing Trapeze Austin's website (www.trapezeaustin.com) and I noticed they have Aerial Circus Arts Classes listed now. The website says they offer aerial rope, Spanish web, static trapeze, silks and hand balancing. Yay! I have to get down there when I'm feeling better. Or maybe I'll just stop by and watch a class. Either way, I'm so excited that we have classes like this available in Austin (South Austin).
I hope they have some kind of show soon - specifically one that allows photography :-) If I can't participate (yet) at least I can take pictures.
